The Appalachian Trail

In April of 2022, Amy graduated from college, Alex quit his job, and they attempted to thru-hike the entire Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine together.

It was a massive endeavor, and they soon learned that climbing mountains is one of those things that doesn’t necessarily get easier over time. Along the trail, they faced obstacles ranging from hungry black bears to torrential downpours to heat waves to stomach viruses. In spite of this, or perhaps as a result, they had the time of their lives’ as they trudged their way northbound.

In September of 2022, after nearly five months of hiking every day, they summited Mt. Katahdin in the remnants of a hurricane and were finally victorious. Alex wrote a journal entry each of the 147 days they spent hiking. Check them out below.
